William J. Lydon, PhD - 69 Columbus, OH - William (Bill) Lydon died July 30 after a short illness, surrounded by friends and family. Born February 27, 1946 in Elyria, Ohio to James F. Lydon and Ruth A. Lydon (Schaefer). A former Asst. Chair of the Political Science Dept. at OSU, he went on to retire from the State of Ohio. A longtime German Village resident, Bill moved to the Columbus neighborhood in the early 80's during the area's renaissance. His home was a focal point and gathering place for friends and neighbors. Bill loved fierce political debate, and had a special place in his heart for his horses and dogs. At his request, no service will be held. He is survived by sister Linda Solet (Tom), brother Ray Lydon (Elaine), nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's name to the charity of your choice. Graveside service will be held 1:00 pm. Monday, August 3, 2015 at Union Cemetery. Funeral procession will meet at entrance of cemetery at 12:45 pm.
