William "Bill" Stoots, age 74, of Groveport died peacefully in his home on April 15, 2021. He was a long-time resident of Groveport, Ohio. Bill was born on January 2, 1947 in Welch, WV to the late James Bertrand Stoots and the late Vera (Robson) Stoots. Spending most of his youth in Southern Pines, NC, Bill moved to Ohio in 1965. He graduated from high school and attended some classes at Columbus State Community College. Bill served his country after being drafted by the US Army in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969. He worked for Clark Products, DDCO, and DFAS before retiring in 1997. Bill was an avid fisherman and was a member of the Alum Creek Bassmasters. He enjoyed making annual fishing trips in the fall to the Dokis Reserve in Ontario, Canada. Preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Jan (Yuill) Stoots, Bill is survived by brothers Ronald (Debbie) of Point Blank, TX, Douglas (Mary) of Reynoldsburg, OH, Glenn (Karen) of Obetz, OH, daughters Ronda (Paul) Siniff and Amanda (Daniel) Scheidegger; granddaughters Natalie, Delaney, and Reagan; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother James Andrew "Andy" Stoots, sister Sharron Stein, and nephew Dean Haslett. Calling hours and memorial service will be conducted at Myers-Woodyard Funeral Home in Groveport, OH on Sunday, April 25. Calling hours will be held 11:30am-1:00pm with a brief memorial service 1:00-1:30pm. Following services, close friends and family are welcome to attend a short burial service at the Groveport Cemetery. Due to Covid concerns, masks and social distancing protocols will be maintained throughout the services for the safety of all of us. If anyone ever knew dad, he just wanted to make sure everyone would be ok and we will honor his concern for the well-being of all.
